Seeing yourself like this, with the lights on
Seeing yourself like this, with the lights on.
OCTOBER 30, 2022

A group session in the forest was in the works, how perfect! I love group photos, female bodies and nature, but it couldn’t happen…
Want to do something on Sunday? Pralad asked
Photos on the street! said my gut without thinking.
Why on the street? Because “you can’t”, and I’m an Aquarius, and stubborn!
People pass by, coming and going, who knows! It’s Sunday, do they get up early? Are they just going to bed?
They pass, they look, some turn around and look again, others go on their way. Me, looking for mine; I’ve been at it a while, walking a lot, searching for myself between what I am and what they say I am.
Being “the one you should be” to fit in and be liked, because they told you some shapes aren’t good, aren’t “lovable”. How long the road is to know yourself, grow and see what is essentially yours, what you like and what moves you, beyond what they told you that you were or could be. No thanks, I’m not that anymore, that’s not mine anymore, it doesn’t fit me, and life is too short to go around uncomfortable! wearing things that no longer feel like you, don’t fit you, you don’t like…

The best student, the best little girl, the always-good one who never gets angry, the one who’s always there, the fighter, the one who says no, the one who leaves, the one who disagrees and you can see it on her face, the one who loves being naked: that’s me too.
Who decided how much the body can be exposed? Who establishes what is moral or immoral, who invented the bikini? Who gets to have an opinion about female bodies and tries at all costs to legislate what is lived in here?
That’s why I always try to move the barrier a little further. To invite freedom, of bodies, of mind and of soul, because these aren’t times for not doing what our soul wants.

To recognize and love yourself inside, but outside too. Seeing yourself like this, with the lights on.
