The body as canvas

Melania called to tell me she had a project with Pralad to take some photos and that a projector would be used. That was all the information she gave me, the only thing she said. I didn’t understand much, but when I heard Pralad I knew I had to say yes

It has always been a challenge to have nude photos taken, although I always do it when I can: seeing my body, seeing what others see, what I see and what I’d like to be seen. It’s a thousand contradictions; sometimes I like it, sometimes I don’t, and every session is an inner challenge, with this new and different body that keeps changing

These photos and this sum of talents gathered here made me fall in love again with nudity and with the art of showing it.

I think I’m lucky to be captured here by these great artists

What lies within what we understand as the body is usually bound to its material quality, its manifestations and physical characteristics. That’s why, when I speak of the body, I think of it from its individual territory, as an entity capable of manifesting itself. And so the idea of the body as canvas, while it takes me back to painting, also speaks of what it is that I ultimately want to manifest through this canvas covered in scars, memories, joys, damage and time. Where the passage of time is inevitable and a constant reminder that we are alive in our body. The act of scratching, smudging, painting and creating on ourselves could be said to go back to our beginnings as humanity, when tribes expressed themselves with piercings, body paint and/or any kind of symbol that identified and set them apart. Today it isn’t so different: each individual seeks their own identity through devices that can cover that naked body. However, just as it may seem these devices box us in, they also open the door to expression through the body, which becomes a living work in which each person has the power to decide how to express, and express themselves, before others.

The human being is by nature a social being (Aristotle)

I believe life is about living experiences. For the vast majority who have written on this page, it has been the experience of getting naked.

On the other hand, the experience of creating as a group is something I find very enriching, an experience that connects you in another way with what you do and with those who see what you do, a way of socializing through creation.
